I have a separate headphone set with its own similar sized volume slider on it and it is infinitely better. I was expecting it to go from loud to near muted, but instead it is always loud to ever so slighty less louder. Maybe they fixed it with that one. The splitter is working great, no issue there. But the individual volume controls - the difference between the max and min settings is a joke. I was hoping this unit would be useful for my wife and I as we travel, so she doesn't have to listen to my Blur music, or I to her classic piano concertos when we share the iPod.But what can you expect for $2.and this is a discontinued item by Griffin as it has been superceded by a newer version.
Our order came in a very timely manner so we could celebrate Valentine's day flying to Seattle and watching and hearing the inflight movie. It saves money 'cause we only have to "buy" one movie/tv screen on the flight. This is just the headphone splitter we have been looking for. We travel lots and when we want to watch a movie or listen to music, it is so convenient to have the Griffin SmartShare Headphone Splitter--we can watch the same movie and have our individual volume. My husband likes volume louder and I'm a low volume person, so these have been perfect for our needs.
just as advertised. you don't want the "it's too loud" complaints. OK it splits the sound and gives you each a volume control. Perfect for hanging on a beach with a companion or even a wife :) maybe especially a wife.
This is a really nice product. I looks good, it is very functional, it is constructed well, and it keeps both listeners at a volume level they can enjoy.
I just needed the ability for either listener to turn the volume down individually. It filled my need exactly. If you need to increase the volume above the maximum provided by the audio device, then you need amplification and this doesn't provide that.
